“Who you gonna call?”
Hey everyone! Good to be back–I have a feeling my rough patch is almost over.
Down to business. Well, my good friend Pro-Crastinator asked me to draw him up this piece a few months ago. As you might guess from my erratic posting schedule, I quickly became very busy with track and field, homework, etc. Ironically enough, I was the one who procrastinated this commission, despite my customer’s fitting title… yet here I am, posting about it this very moment, wondering to myself, “How did I end up getting this done?”.
Though I took my sweet time completing this thing, I love the way it came out. Thanks to my friend’s plethora of source material, I knew exactly what to draw and really tried to flesh out the character and the world he had in mind. This is an example of a larger, desktop wallpaper-sized commission ($25-$50); though these pieces take more time and are a bit pricier, I assure you that they’re worth every penny. And I have a lot more fun drawing them!
Now that I’ve got this done, I can finally get to working on the next comic–no rest for the teenage internet cartoonist, I suppose. In the meantime, be sure to check out Pro-Crastinator’s own work on DeviantArt and SoundCloud!
“It’s dangerous to go alone!”
Surprise! Just a quick post today to show off a few commissions I’ve accumulated over the past few months. These drawings, in particular, were drawn for my parents for their own personal use. Now y’all know why the comics have been monthly rather than weekly (as I’d hoped)–commissions are quite time-consuming!
On with the description. Well, this compilation of battle-hardened items includes a worn sword, jade shield, gold plates (an ancient set of scriptures, comparable to the Bible) and a pair of all-too-familiar running shoes (for me, at least). In any other context, this pile of equipment might seem unusual… but here at Dustlander Productions, the items are collectively considered to be a valuable arsenal.
The sword, though dulled through years of use, can be tempered and sharpened indefinitely–its purpose and power rivaling that of the Blade of Evil’s Bane. The shield is simply impenetrable and never allows the adversary even a single chance to strike. The scriptures provide a warrior with the innate courage and strength he already possesses. And the shoes–well, let’s just say this warrior runs a fast mile.
I suppose I’m just rambling at this point, but I hope I shared a bit of inspiration with all of you fine folks. Who knows? Maybe this post will motivate you through the rest of your finals. No guarantees, though.
Custom 8-bit background!
Custom sci-fi background!
What has it been, a month since my last post? As always, I’ve got loads of things to do in real life (yes, I have one), and keeping the website fresh and exciting is not my number one priority 100% of the time. Excuses, excuses, I know–but it’s not like I haven’t been drawing!
Behold, [CENSORED] and BlueArmorSpaceHallway, two of my best buds who purchased $20.00 caricatures recently! As you can see, each caricature is slightly different while retaining the same general style. Though these fellows also received versions with blank backgrounds, I especially wanted to show off their custom backgrounds this time around–whether it’s an atomic explosion, a pixellated landscape or a 2001-esque hallway, if you can dream it, I can draw it!
In other news, the website has finally been dubbed dustlander.com after months of technical issues with my school district’s network! The more professional URL isn’t the only new thing coming–in the spirit of the holiday season, I’ll be posting even more commissioned artwork and a new comic over the next few weeks. In fact, I might just be adding a little something extra to the comic this time… check the site often for new updates!
White Background – $10.00
Custom Background – $20.00
Huh, someone looks familiar–oh, right, it’s Ace from 2. Homecoming! But what is he doing here??
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m pleased to announce my first specified type of paid commission available: caricatures! These headshots are perfect for your profile picture on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media, especially if you want to personalize an account without revealing your real face to the whole internet. Being a freelance artist, I also work on a case-by-case basis, which means no more boring templates or restrictive avatar editors and more unique, customized awesomeness in my distinct, fun style!
As always with this type of commission, I’ll need a very detailed description of your face or a clear photo in good lighting. Any personal photos sent to me will not be shared with the general public or posted on the site… in fact, let’s get real, I’ll probably delete them afterwards to protect your privacy. In both cases, those who pay for the custom background will have to describe their idea for a background in their proposal. (Examples include explosions, lasers, lightning, rainbows, etc.)
Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to propose your caricature’s design, and feel free to comment on this post if you have any questions. Thank you and thanks to Ace of Hurts for letting me use his caricatures!
